This Day in Irish History started as a social media account in March 2018.

The concept was simple – a page to recall key events from Irish history on the anniversary of the days they occurred, be it a turning point in politics, in medicine, in music, in sport, in innovation, or in some other area.

Since then, its audience has grown to over 80,000 followers across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!

In September 2021, a book inspired by the account was published by The O’Brien Press in Dublin (which you can order here). Expanding the daily posts into a book allowed me to go into a lot more detail than you can fit into a tweet, but it also meant being selective with what I could cover.

I have launched this Substack to allow me to write about even more events, which I have not previously touched upon (none of the entries from my book will be repeated here – everything will be a Substack exclusive).
